In the heart of Tübingen

Fraternity houses are as characteristic of the townscape of Tübingen as is the Neckar River. Our house is a fine example, located very close to the Tübinger Castle; it welcomes you to the Neckar Valley.

Following its completion in 1905, our house received considerable praise from architects in several technical journals. It was described as a successful example of the Landhausstil (Country House Style), built in our case for the first time as a dedicated and functional fraternity house. And indeed all visitors feel instantly at home in our house.

As soon as you enter our grounds through the gate, the covered and arcaded terrace seems to invite you to stay for a while to enjoy the unique view over the Swabian Alps and the Rossberg.

When the visitor enters the house, he is not greeted by a hall with a formal high ceiling, as in the days of the Emperor, but rather by a beautiful hallway which leads to the comfortable library, the ‘tavern’, in which the fraternity brothers eat and debate, and the festival room. In the basement there are rooms for sport and leisure, from which there is access to the lower terraces, and to the large kitchen where the housekeeper prepares a communal meal daily. On the second and third floors of our house the visitor will find an adequate number of living, studying and common rooms. Of course, all rooms are equipped with the most modern communication systems. The generously proportioned billiard room is the central feature of the upper floor.

Over the years, our fraternity members have renovated the house many times over with great effort and commitment, updating it to the newest requirements. But it still remains a functional and comfortable house.

Generations of Derendingers have come and gone and enthusiastically filled the house with life. The house became their home.
